Summer is coming, and that’s the most popular time of year for office relocations. MoverJunction is a Loudoun-based company that helps make it easier for businesses to move. MoverJunction Founder and CEO Saurabh “Raj” Kalra explained how.

“Every day we get calls from customers who are moving but have no idea where to start. There’s too many moving options out there, and figuring out which one is right for you can be a hectic job,” Kalra said. “To address this pain point and make move-planning easier and more manageable for customers, we decided to create the current MoverJunction portal. From finding a moving company, to getting moving quotes and moving supplies, customers can do it all from our website.”

The site allows users to compare rates, read reviews and get tips on how to save money while moving. There are other businesses in addition to MoverJunction that are changing the relocation and real estate industries.

For example, PockitShip and Bellhops are bringing on-demand moving and shipping services to your fingertips through their apps. Teleport.org and urMuv.net allow employees to find and research communities while looking for a house to buy or rent. There are several others that offer virtual tours of houses and neighborhoods that can be viewed on smart phones.

Kalra has advice for Loudoun tech startups seeking to enter this market.

“Today, a lot of focus is put on raising the next round of capital and/or getting an exit, and not enough to the actual product development. Customers that are using our products are real people, not just a metric to gain higher valuation. Give them the importance and respect they deserve and traction will follow.”
