Action beyond your visual line of site can be devastating. At a time when lawmakers in Washington, D.C., are regulating the future of your industry, can you afford to be a plane ride away?

General Aviation

Signature Flight Support and Ross Aviation serve as the Fixed Base Operators for the business aviation community.

Signature has a 67,000 square foot facility on the east side of Dulles Airport. Ross Aviation has an 84,000 square foot facility north of the Main Terminal on the west side of Dulles.

Loudoun actively seeks companies who operate in the general aviation space, including charter, fractional ownership, flight instruction, etc.

Location Advantages:

  • Multiple Fortune 500 companies close to Dulles
  • Embassies and foreign dignitaries
  • Local area professional sports teams

Air Cargo

There are currently seven cargo buildings on the airport property with a total of over 540,000 square feet of operational space. Over the next 20 years, world air cargo traffic will grow 5.2 percent per year. Air freight, including express traffic, will average 5.3 percent annual growth, measured in Revenue-Ton-Kilometers (RTKs).

Flight Simulation & Training

Aviation, more than most domains, requires significant, recurrent, and expensive training. Whether it is flight crew qualification/requalification, aircraft upgrades, aircraft maintenance, or a number of other sub-domains, aviation-centric training requires specialized equipment, people, and facilities.

These high-tech facilities, equipment and people are a great fit for Loudoun. Aviation-centric schools and universities are also a growing trend to fill aviation-related needs into the next century.

Loudoun is already rich in higher education offerings, but we actively seek academic or maintenance-related schools to provide workforce for the aviation sector by making local aviation-centric education accessible and affordable.

Location Advantages

  • Crossroads of multiple domestic and international carriers
  • Wide variety of aircraft types operating at Dulles
  • High-end business aviation market

Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO)

The commercial aircraft MRO market has evolved out of a trend by airlines to perform third party contract repairs following respite periods between in-house jobs. Given the importance of aircraft safety, MRO has evolved to become a key market within the aviation industry.

The current estimate is that the value of the world commercial aircraft MRO market in 2022 will reach $84.7 billion.

Loudoun currently seeks companies which manufacture, store, and ship aircraft spare parts, repair commercial aircraft, and perform ancillary services.

Loudoun Features:

  • Wide variety of aircraft types
  • High-end business aviation market

Transportation & Logistics

The movement of freight-raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods-currently supports over $350 billion of Virginia’s Gross State Product annually.
To accommodate the movement of freight, Virginia hosts one of the nation’s leading four major cargo airports, and some of the nation’s most heavily used truck corridors. Over the next two decades, the forecast is for significant growth in the demand for freight movement into, out of, within and through Virginia.
With Dulles International Airport and Air Cargo as the center of our focus, we are attracting businesses that understand Loudoun is
connected to everything with logistics at the right place, right time and right people.

Location Advantages:

  • Dulles International Airport for air cargo
  • Major improvement to road networks supporting freight transport
  • Increasing connectivity to maritime and rail nodes
