December 12: Janitza Electronics

Markus Janitza’s first impression of the United States was a favorable one. The German engineer had always wanted to bring his company, Janitza Electronics, to the states since the company’s inception. “When I visited the United States, I was impressed by the size of the country and the welcoming people, so I always wanted to expand here,” remarked Janitza.

Janitza Electronics is a family enterprise in the second generation focusing on the development and production of energy efficiency systems.

He strategically chose Loudoun as the location for Janitza’s U.S. headquarters because not only does Dulles offer direct flights to three locations in Germany, Loudoun’s proximity to data centers, health IT, and other key industries is an attractive one, as he would like to rapidly expand his 7,200 square foot office space in Ashburn. Janitza continued, “Ashburn is the bullseye of America’s internet, so we wanted our focus to be here. There are so many opportunities for us in multiple industries, including data centers, industrial, pharmaceutical, and power utilities.”

Loudoun’s “Data Center Alley” is the world’s largest concentration of data centers, with more than 25 million square feet currently in operation and millions more being planned or developed. Much of the world’s internet traffic passes through Loudoun’s digital infrastructure, making the county a key player in the world’s technology economy.

With the holidays approaching, Janitza, true to his German roots, presented his U.S. team with a traditional German housewarming gift of bread and gourmet salt. Janitza Electronics is, after all, a family-owned company, and its corporate values speak highly of the togetherness and team spirit that lies at the foundation of the company. Janitza finished, “I think we have found a perfect place. We can settle down where we have a home, so we’re happy to be here.”
