Hops, Wine and Data Centers – DED in the News

- The big news in Loudoun this month is hops. Black Hops Farm is opening the Mid-Atlantic’s first hops processing operation in Loudoun. Governor McAuliffe presented a $40,000 AFID grant with matching funds by Loudoun County in order to support the business, which is expected to make a $1 million investment in the county.
- In wine news, there is continued support for Loudoun’s proposed Viticulture & Enology Education Center. This center would be only the third of its kind in the U.S., and would work to improve the overall quality of wine produced in Loudoun and produce a more highly skilled workforce for the fast-growing wine industry.

- DED Director Buddy Rizer was lauded for his data center work. NVTC named him the Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure Person of the Year at a recent event.
