Orbcomm Expanding in Loudoun County with $3M Investment and 51 New Jobs
Loudoun County is proud to welcome the expansion and global headquarters relocation of ORBCOMM Inc., a global leader in industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and asset tracking solutions. As announced by Governor Glenn Youngkin, ORBCOMM will invest $3 million to expand into a 22,000-square-foot office in Sterling, Virginia, creating 51 new jobs in the process.
Founded in 1993, ORBCOMM provides critical monitoring and control technologies for industries including transportation, heavy equipment, maritime, oil and gas, utilities, and government. The company’s expansion and relocation of its global headquarters from New Jersey reinforces Loudoun’s position as a hub for advanced technology, data infrastructure, and federal market access.
“ORBCOMM’s expansion in Loudoun is further proof that Loudoun is the right choice for innovative, forward-looking companies,” said Buddy Rizer, Executive Director of Loudoun Economic Development. “We offer an unmatched combination of location, talent, infrastructure, and support, and we’re proud to have ORBCOMM growing here.”
The project was officially approved by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors on July 15, 2025, and will include upgrades to the company’s existing office and meeting spaces. Loudoun Economic Development worked in partnership with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Commonwealth to secure the project.
