Workforce Wednesday: Jim Carrier, Century 21 New Millennium

Brian Tinsman
Digital Properties Manager
Meet Jim Carrier, branch leader at Century 21 New Millennium, with offices in One Loudoun. Real estate is a family business for Jim, but not in the way you might expect—it was his son who got him involved.
“I’ve been in this business for close to eight years, managing the real estate offices,” he explained. “I’ve got a very broad business career, but my son, actually, is one of the executive vice presidents for the company. He told me they were looking for someone to manage the corporate headquarters in Alexandria.”
Carrier enjoyed the challenge for five years, but when the opportunity arrived to go back to Loudoun County, he took it.
“The company approached me and said they were opening a new concept, office-of-the-future type of place in One Loudoun, and asked me if I’d be interested,” he said. “We knew we had to be in one of the fastest growing counties in the country. About two-and-a-half years ago, we decided to go to the No. 1 development, One Loudoun, and open another real estate office here.”
Jim’s interests are much closer to home these days, but about 15 years ago, he found his adventures out on the open road.
“I did a 1,500-mile enduro motorcycle race from northern Chile to Santiago, Chile, over about a six-day span with motorcycle riders from all over the world,” he said. “It was one of the most exciting things I’ve done, but also one of the most dangerous. It was an incredible experience to hit five different cities in Chile over a five-day period, and climb back into the mountains and stay, then go on the next day’s excursion.
“It was awesome.”
