Is there a Loudoun building, public space, development or architectural detail you admire? The Loudoun County Design Cabinet is seeking nominations for the 2014 Signatures of Loudoun Design Excellence Awards Program. Residents, project owners, developers and architects can find award criteria and a new, easy-to-use online entry form on the Loudoun Economic Development website at biz.loudoun.gov/designawards.

“The look and feel of a community are key to economic development,” says Loudoun Economic Development Director Buddy Rizer. “This awards program recognizes the commercial and residential buildings – and historical structures – that make people want to do business in Loudoun.”

The award categories recognize public and private projects both large and small. This year also features a new “Public Spaces” selection. This category recognizes “public greens, streets, plazas and squares whose designs have made them favorite mixing places.”

“Great communities don’t just happen, so we strive to honor and recognize those demonstrating the best design in the county,” said Design Cabinet Chair Alan Hansen, FAIA LEED AP.

The Loudoun County Design Cabinet is an award-winning volunteer group of professional architects, planners and engineers sponsored by Loudoun County Economic Development. The Signatures of Loudoun Design Excellence awards will be presented to winners this spring at a meeting of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
