Loudoun farmers, landowners and rural business owners are invited to the 11th annual Forum for Rural Innovation to be held Friday, March 13, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Motor Inn & Conference Center in Winchester, Virginia. The forum will showcase projects and programs that enhance rural business profitability, and feature exhibits by agricultural suppliers, support agencies, and area businesses. Registration is $40 per person and includes morning refreshments and a buffet lunch. Seating is limited; pre-registration by March 6 is required. The event will have seven sessions on topics ranging from raising venture capital and preventing legal liabilities to growing specialty grains; malting; using aquaponics; starting a farm brewery, distillery or cidery, and how to gross $1 per square foot on one acre of land. The 14 presenters are experts in their fields, and include farm business owners who’ll give practical strategies based on real-life experience. Details about are listed online.

The Forum for Rural Innovation is a cooperative educational effort by the Offices of Agricultural Economic Development and Cooperative Extension in Clarke, Fauquier, and Loudoun Counties of Virginia; Jefferson and Berkeley Counties, West Virginia; and the Town of Berryville.
