The Loudoun County Design Cabinet invites the public to submit nominations for an award program that recognizes Loudoun County’s distinctive architecture and iconic designs. The Signatures of Loudoun Design Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Design Cabinet with support from the Department of Economic Development, has a number of categories, including public spaces, historic renovations, adaptive reuse and visually groundbreaking projects. Entries must be received by March 11; details and an entry form are available online at biz.loudoun.gov/designawards.

“Loudoun is proud of the environment we’ve created to live, work and play,” says Loudoun Economic Development Director Buddy Rizer. “I’m always impressed with how Signatures of Loudoun recognizes those who make the extra effort to create a great work setting. From data centers and Dulles Airport to wineries and retailers, these are structures that house the businesses driving Loudoun’s economy.”

Winners will be announced at a June meeting of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and celebrated with a special reception.

“This award program recognizes the buildings, interiors and places that give Loudoun its distinctive look and feel and make it a county unlike any other,” said Design Cabinet Chair Alan Hansen, FAIA LEED AP.

The Loudoun County Design Cabinet is an award-winning volunteer group of professional architects, planners and engineers sponsored by Loudoun County Department of Economic Development. A select number of Loudoun students also participate on the Signatures of Loudoun jury and vote on the “Students’ Choice” award winner.

To submit a nomination, fill out an entry form available online at biz.loudoun.gov/designawards.
