Show friends and family how much you care this holiday season with artisan gifts and responsibly-raised food, sourced locally from farms in Loudoun County, Va. The 2019 “Take Loudoun Home for the Holidays” guide is the perfect resource for celebrating the season.

Starting the day after Thanksgiving, nine Loudoun tree farms will open to the public, offering pre-cut or cut-your-own trees and buy pre-made wreaths, garlands, poinsettias, and other holiday greens (check the guide for hours and locations).

In addition to finding the perfect tree, most farms enhance the experience with holiday treats, music, fire pits and more.

“Kick off your holiday season with a day visiting Loudoun farms, making memories that will last a lifetime,” Loudoun Economic Development’s Executive Director Buddy Rizer said. “Take your piece of Loudoun home and know that you’re getting the best quality products and supporting family-owned small businesses at the same time.”

Loudoun’s fertile soil and ideal climate supports a wide variety of fir, pine, spruce and cedar trees. More than 1,200 farms help stitch the fabric of western Loudoun County, home to an array of products and experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in the Washington, D.C., region.

“Holiday trees take seven years to reach maturity, which is a substantial investment by the farmers,” Business Development Officer for Agriculture and Business Services John Magistro explained. “Purchasing directly from the farms in this guide is a terrific way to support local growers and ensure their continued success.”
