Women in Loudoun Agricultural Businesses Invited to Virginia Agri-Women’s Kickoff Event Oct. 20
New Organization Looks to Promote Industry and Encourage Networks
Loudoun Economic Development invites women involved in agricultural businesses to celebrate the creation of Virginia Agri-Women on Tuesday, October 20, from 2-4 p.m. at Blue Bee Cider in Richmond, Virginia. There is no charge for this event; please register at biz.loudoun.gov/VAWkickoff or by calling Cassie Walls at 703-777-0426.
Virginia Secretary of Agriculture Todd Haymore will open the event, followed by light refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the VAW Board of Directors. Chapter leaders are encouraging any woman with a passion for agriculture to attend this event, and consider membership in the organization.
American Agri-Women is a national organization representing tens of thousands of women involved in agriculture. As stated on their website, “Throughout the history of America Agri-Women, our members have been actively involved and making a difference in legislative and regulatory matters at the local, state and national levels. They have also been instrumental in student and consumer education about agriculture.” The new Virginia chapter seeks to emulate its parent chapter, while creating a supportive space in Virginia for women involved in all aspects of the industry.
